SFMI Business Principles

SFMI has enacted the “SFMI Business Principles” to raise integrity and transparency in its operations.

Overview

  • Furthermore, we have established and followed SFMI business principles as fundamental standards for employees’ thinking and behavior in all management activities as we perform business and take social responsibility in compliance with laws and ethical code of conduct.

SFMI Business Principles

We respect dignity of diversity of individuals.

  • We respect basic human rights inherent in all human beings.
  • Forced labor, child labor, and wage theft are strictly prohibited under any circumstances.
  • We do not discriminate against any stakeholders including customers and employees regardless of their nation, location, gender, ethnicity, language, or any other status.

We compete fairly, observing laws and business ethics.

  • We observe laws and regulations in countries and local communities, respect domestic and international insurance market orders and compete in a fair manner.
  • We do not breach business ethics to seek improper gains.
  • We strictly prohibit bribery and improper solicitation in performing business.

We maintain accounting transparency through accurate record-keeping.

  • We keep and manage all trade records accurately to help all stakeholders objectively understand our business activities.
  • We observe national accounting laws and regulations and international accounting standards.
  • We disclose major management and corporate information including financial changes in accordance with legal requirements.

We do not intervene in politics, and maintain a neutral stance on all political issues.

  • We respect individual voting rights and political intentions, but refrain from political activities within the company.
  • We do not use corporate fund, human resources, and facilities for political purposes.
  • We do not offer graft including illegal donation.

We draw a clear line between public interests and personal interests in all our activities.

  • We put the company’s lawful interests before individuals’ interests in case of a conflict of interests.
  • We neither seek personal gains by exploiting company properties and personal positions, nor engage in any illegal activities such as embezzlement and misappropriation.
  • We do not engage in trade of securities such as stock purchase by using knowledge acquired at work.

We protect intellectual properties of the company and others.

  • We do not leak internal intellectual properties and classified information outside the company without prior approval or permission.
  • We respect intellectual properties of others, and do not commit any infringement such as unauthorized use, duplication, distribution, and modification, etc.

  • We never commit sexual harassment, monetary exchange, violence, or any other activities that might harm healthy relationship among coworkers.
  • We do not form a faction or private group that might generate discord within the company.

[Supplementary Notes]

Scope of Application

  • SFMI Business Principles shall be applied to “SFMI” (including overseas subsidiaries) and “all SFMI employees.”
  • SFMI Business Principles shall be understood by business partners and salesforce (sales agencies and Risk Consultants) so that they can willingly follow.

Business Principle Practice Committee

  • The Company shall make sure that employees follow these Business Principles and run the Business Principle Practice Committee to facilitate business activities grounded on SFMI Business Principles.
  • The Regulations on the Business Principles Practice Committee shall be determined separately.

Use of Business Principles

  • Should interpretation be ambiguous in applying this Business Principles, it shall be discussed with a director in charge and important issues shall be referred to Chief Compliance Officer and Business Principle Practice Committee for authoritative interpretation.
  • All SFMI employees shall faithfully comply with the Business Principles and face the consequences for any violation including disciplinary actions.
  • Any employee who has detected a breach of the Principles shall immediately report to managers, furthermore, any violation that is deemed to potentially tarnish the reputation of the company and cause serious legal issues, shall be reported immediately to a director in charge and Chief Compliance Officer.

Separate Regulation

  • Specific standards on judgement and action regarding SFMI Business Principles shall be determined separately through the Business Principle Practice Guidelines.
